Vata Season Therapy
Fall & Early Winter Ayurvedic Body Therapy
Warming • Grounding • Nourishing • Nervous System Soothing • Deep Rest
As the air turns cooler and drier, many of us feel it in our bodies and nervous systems — restlessness, fatigue, dryness, anxiety, and difficulty settling.
Vata Season Therapy is a deeply nourishing, 90-minute Ayurvedic body treatment designed specifically to counter these seasonal qualities.
This therapy is slow, rhythmic, and profoundly soothing — an antidote for a fried, frazzled, or overstimulated nervous system.
The Experience
This 90-minute session is offered as a continuous, meditative flow of warm oil, gentle exfoliation, and heat.
The treatment includes:
A very slow, rhythmic full-body oiling using warm, herbalized oil
A rose petal & oat scrub on the back, followed by hot towels
Continued slow oiling on the front of the body
Warm castor oil applied to the feet
Additional hot towels
Closing with gentle oiling of facial and cranial marma points (energy centers)
Each element is designed to invite the body into deep rest, soften the nervous system, and restore a sense of internal steadiness.
This is not a massage focused on manipulating muscles.
In Ayurveda, the oil is the healer — and the touch is intentional, rhythmic, and calming.Optional Add-On: Shirodhara
You may choose to extend this therapy to 2 hours by adding Shirodhara — a continuous stream of warm oil poured gently over the forehead.
Shirodhara can deepen nervous system regulation, support sleep, and quiet an overactive mind.
If you’re curious about adding Shirodhara, please email me to schedule:

The Details
Offered in person in Belfast, Maine
The therapy is done without clothing on a heated massage table, with a sheet used for modesty
Warm towels are used at the end to gently remove excess oil (this part is often described as divine)
Your hair will be quite oily after the session — please bring a hat, scarf, or bandana you don’t mind getting oily
FAQ

Most people feel deeply relaxed, grounded, and calm. Your skin and hair will be quite oily afterward, so I recommend wearing clothing you don’t mind getting oil on and bringing a scarf, hat, or bandana to cover your hair. Many people report improved sleep the night of their session.
